Edges of Awesomeness - Casting on and Casting off Workshop

Date:  21st August 2018, 6.30pm to 9.30pm

Do you rely on the same old cast-on and cast-off? Perhaps it’s even the ones you learnt when you first started knitting. If so, it’s time to expand your repertoire.

In this class, we will look at a variety of different knitting projects and learn which cast-ons are best suited for which projects. Learn cast-ons that make your beanie brims look sleek and polished, enable your sock cuffs to stretch enough to get on, or  eliminate any lumps and bumps in the toes of your socks.

In the second part of this class, we’ll turn our attention to cast-offs and again look at the best applications for different techniques. Learn which cast-offs you can use to visually match different cast-ons, which provides the best finish for those lace shawls, or the cuffs of your cardigan or even mean that your kids can get their jumpers over their heads without fear of strangulation.

Prerequisites: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate knitting skills, ability to follow a pattern, knit and purl.

Tutor: Georgie Nicolson from Tikki Knits.
